A man in his thirties is due to appear before Cavan District Court this morning, Thursday at 10.30am following a joint operation between the An Garda Síochána and Revenue Customs Service in County Monaghan in which €195k worth of cannabis was seized.
As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and distribution of controlled drugs, a coordinated intelligence-led operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Louth Cavan Monaghan Crime Hub, and the Revenue Customs Service in County Monaghan yesterday.
During the operation approximately 9.7 kilograms of herbal cannabis, valued at an estimated €194,800, was seized (pending analysis).
The male in his 30s was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and was detained at a Garda Station in County Monaghan under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Gardai say investigations into the matter are ongoing.
