Revenue's Customs service has confirmed the drugs were seized in Dublin during an operation on Wednesday as a result of risk profiling
Investigations are underway following the discovery of a significant quantity of drugs in Dublin in parcels which originated in Spain and Portugal and were destined for Louth and Monaghan.
Revenue's Customs service has confirmed the drugs were seized in the capital during an operation on Wednesday as a result of risk profiling.
"With the assistance of detector dog James, Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin seized 13.5kgs of herbal cannabis and 882 grammes of cannabis resin with an estimated value of €275,000," said a spokesperson.
According to Revenue, the illicit drugs were discovered in parcels which had originated from Spain and Portugal and were destined for addresses in Monaghan and Louth.
They say investigations into the seizures are ongoing.
Revenue is also appealing to businesses and members of the public, who have any information regarding drug smuggling, to contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
