The famous St Malachy’s plays took place over two nights in the Friary Hall.

Night one kicked off with four stunning performances. Up first on stage were Ms McKeown’s 2nd Class: they took us on a trip down memory lane with a Disney classic: The Jungle Book.

This was then followed by Ms McNally’s 3rd class who performed ‘Our School Community’ showing us just how important every part of our school and community is to us all. The penultimate act of the night was the famous ‘Duke McCoy’: this famous play has been used down through the years in St Malachy’s Boys.

As gaeilge, the play captures the wonders of our language in a cowboy scene full of action. The final show for night one was performed by Mr O’Connell’s 6th class with Showstoppers: a play that captures all the things that can go wrong when a group of pupils leave the school for what should have been a ‘sensible’ school tour.

On night two, a sell out audience were treated to another five fantastic shows. The night was opened with Ms Mullen’s class performing ‘Pirate School’ in which they survived a very tricky inspector, this was followed by Mr Farrelly’s “Alex in Wonderland” – the boys take on the legendary “Alice in Wonderland”. Next up was a take on a local talent show – ‘Dundalk’s Got Talent” performed by Ms Murphy’s 5th class.

The penultimate show of night two took us down memory lane with a nostalgic take on the glory days for the Boys in Green as Mr Wynne’s 5th Class performed ‘Italia 90’!! To close the show and a wonderful two nights was Ms McElroy’s 6th class with ‘Showstoppers”.

A huge thanks to all those who supported our two nights of shows, be it through buying raffle tickets, sorting costumes or encouraging their son’s or relatives to get up on stage.

Credit to the teachers, staff and pupils who put on wonderful entertainment for two sold out nights in the Friary Hall.
