Dundalk festival AurFest appeals for support to bridge funding gap

Aurfest was held at the weekend

A fledgling local festival that brought a weekend of music and comedy to Dundalk is appealing to the public to help close a small but crucial funding gap.

AurFest, which hosted its first-ever independent music and comedy festival last weekend, has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of €5.5k.

In a heartfelt message, the festival organisers thanked everyone who made the event possible from the tireless volunteers and enthusiastic ticket holders to local vendors, performers, and crew members who poured months of effort into bringing the festival to life.

“This festival was a labour of love; months of planning, late nights, and community spirit all rolled into one unforgettable weekend,” the organisers wrote. “And it was everything we hoped for: full of laughter, music, connection, and joy.”

The cost of staging an independent festival has left a shortfall that the organisers are now hoping the community can help bridge.

“Final costs ended up a little higher than expected,” the organisers explained. “We’ve covered a lot, but there’s still a shortfall we need help bridging to keep things sustainable and lay the groundwork for AurFest 2026.”

AurFest is asking anyone who enjoyed the festival or who simply wants to support grassroots culture and local events  to contribute whatever they can.

“If you were part of it, or simply want to support the kind of grassroots culture that brings people together, we’d be so grateful for anything you can give,” they said.

Anyone wishing to contribute can find the GoFundMe page here.
