St. Peter’s AC athletes made the relatively short journey to Stamullen in Co. Meath for the annual Star of the Sea AC Cross Country Event.
The Louth club enjoyed great success on the day with a good showing of athletes taking to the renowned tough course. First in action for the club was Caroline Campbell in the girls' U9 race.

Caroline set the tone for the club as she put herself in the lead group from the start, and her dedication and commitment to training shone through when she finished a very convincing second place.
Next up, the club had two athletes in the boys under nine race, Patrick Kelly and Lorcon O’Donoghue. Both had really strong runs, and both finished very strongly.
The girls U10 race St. Peter’s had Elissa King do battle, and she acquitted herself very well. The boys U10 race had James Murphy have a really good run to finish inside the top ten.
Fionn O’Donoghue had his best run to date in the St Peter’s singlet and a really strong finish picking off many athletes on the home straight. The girls U11 race was a keenly contested race.
Aoibhe Kelly didn’t get the best of starts but fairly made up for it at the finish, storming up the home straight to take the last of the podium positions to finish in sixth place.
The girls U12 race had a St Peter’s team narrowly miss out on a medal finish, but all three girls had good runs on a tough course. Ellen McCourt led the trio home, closely followed by Abbie Murphy and Alexia King.
The boys U12 race was a highlight of the day from a St Peter’s perspective. Colm Duff led from gun to tape in what was a very impressive performance against some of the best in Leinster, especially with his finish as he stormed to an emphatic victory.
The girls U13 missed out on a team medal by the narrowest of margins, the much improved Ella Murphy was the stand out performer, Ella put herself in the business end of the race from the gun and worked hard throughout and finished in a very credible third place, Anna Kelly worked hard on the hills and came in soon after closely followed by Grace O’Donoghue.
The boys U14 race had two St Peter’s athletes in action, and both battled well, with Donal Foley and James McCourt having strong finishes.
Sam Jeytoo had possibly his strongest cross-country run in a St Peter’s singlet when he took the last of the podium places with a sixth-place finish in the boys U17 race.
The women’s senior race which was a combination of junior (U20), senior, and master was completely dominated by St Peter’s AC athletes from start to finish, with three to count for the team prize barring a mishap it was clear St Peter’s were going to take the honours.
It was incredible to see the St Peter’s singlets in first, second and third place throughout the race, Abbie Sheriden led the trio home closely followed in second place Dearbhla Allen who was first junior and Niamh Brady to complete a memorable victory.
Next up is the Louth Senior Cross Country Championship and Even-Age Championship for juveniles.
