Dundalk Young Irelands GFC, Ireland’s oldest GAA club, launched its new Strategic Development Plan 2025–2030 live on Dundalk FM this morning.

The club, founded in 1884, has grown rapidly in recent years and now has over 400 registered players and more than 1,500 people connected through players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and supporters.

A major highlight has been the development of Ladies Football — with no teams just a few years ago, the club now fields ladies’ teams at every age level.

This year, the U14 ladies were crowned league champions, and several players are involved in Louth’s underage development squads.

The plan, shaped by players, coaches, parents, and the local community, outlines key priorities including securing an additional playing pitch to meet growing demand, improving parking and access around the grounds for safety, and continuing to grow as a vibrant, inclusive community club.

The club also announced the launch of its new website at www.dyi.ie, where visitors can access fixtures, news and team info.

The club is now active on the ClubZap app for real-time updates, training schedules, and alerts, and recently introduced an online Club Lotto, helping to raise vital funds for future development.

Looking ahead, Dundalk Young Irelands will be out in numbers for Flag Day on Wednesday, 6th August, with volunteers and players collecting around town.

Another important event is the Barry McDermott Memorial Golf Classic, taking place on Friday, 15th August at Greenore Golf Club, raising funds for the club in memory of a much-loved clubman.
