Dundalk historian Jim Murphy’s latest book C’Mon The Town: A Dundalk FC Miscellany celebrated its successful launch last Friday night at Oriel Park.

The authority on all things Lilywhites has already released a book about the first 100 years of the club and his incredible newest effort looks set to be another fine seller, with all the proceeds going to the club and he hopes that fans enjoy it in a manner similar to the way in which they would a family album.

Speaking about his new book, he said: “I tried to make it as almost a follow up to the history book which was a season by season story of the good days, the bad days and the personalities and that sort of thing.

“This one is history of a different kind. It is a statistical history and an image history and I got access to these from a lot of local people who gave me access to their valuable memorabilia and the result for Dundalk fans is that leaves you with a family album and I hope that they enjoy it as such.”

The book will be available for purchase in the new Marshes Dundalk FC shop as well as the store on Carrick Road and for those abroad who would like to have their outstanding piece of Dundalk history, the club plan to set up an online facility within the coming days.

Jim admitted that there was a great deal of dedication on his part put in when writing and putting together the 378-page book and is hopeful that it sells well for the sake of the club.

“It was a lot of hard work and effort but if you want to do something right then that does mean a lot of hard work and effort,” said Murphy. “The main thing is that it is designed specifically as a fundraiser.

“The proof of the pudding will be in the eating and what I am hoping is that people will see it as something worth investing in and that in particular they will see it as a very good Christmas present and if they do it should make a substantial contribution to the club’s finances.”
