Suave, sophisticated, urbane; and that’s just his dress sense. Roberto Martinez’s stock couldn’t be higher right now. His Everton side, released from the shackles of the David Moyes era, have played some swashbuckling football this season.

Suave, sophisticated, urbane; and that’s just his dress sense. Roberto Martinez’s stock couldn’t be higher right now. His Everton side, released from the shackles of the David Moyes era, have played some swashbuckling football this season.

The Catalonian has had his critics, who had shouted loud that, although his Wigan side could play, they just couldn’t defend and his brand of attacking football would get found out. Well fast forward nine months and his precocious side look on the verge of ousting Arsenal for that final Champions League spot after humbling Arsene Wenger’s men 3-0 at the weekend.

It’s not just his footballing style that sets him apart, though. He’s bright, intelligent and articulate and his ability to deal with a badly receding hairline is jealousy-inducing.

Whether Everton make the Champions League or not, this has been phenomenal season for the Blues and, in particular, for Martinez.
