Dundalk and District League round-up

Muirhevnamor FC fire 21-goal salute in memory of the late Gerry Gover
Dundalk and District League Fyffes Premier Division
Shamrocks FC 2-1 Glenmuir FC
Shamrocks FC made it two wins out of three games played in the Dundalk and District League, with this narrow home victory over Glenmuir United.
They join a host of clubs sitting with six points. The Glen’s had a lucky let off early in the game, their keeper pushing a shot onto the crossbar.
As the homeside gradually got on top, Brooklyn Kavanagh swooped to score the opening score, a lead they held to the break. The second half was a story of two penalties.
On the hour mark, a reckless sliding tackle by the hoops player in the penalty area led to Joe Byrne coolly placing the spot kick to the corner of the net to level the match.
Both sides had chances to add to their tally, but poor finishing and good goalkeeping meant it took another spot kick to win the points; this time, Barry O’Hare blasted home the vital score.

Square United 3-1 Carrick Rovers
Square went level with Haynestown on nine points in second place in the table with this home win over Carrick, having played a game less than the Haynestown side.
