Pádraig Ó Gallachóir was the latest winner of the Dundalk Golf Club National Tile and Flooring Autumn Series, shooting a super score of 44pts to beat Conor Murphy by two.

Playing off 16, he covered the front nine in 37 gross with seven pars, a birdie at the second and a double bogey at the fourth.

That gave him a score of 25pts for the front nine, and he continued to play solidly down the back with three-point pars at the 12th and 18th, a two-point par at the 14th, five two-point bogeys and a double bogey at the 17th for 19pts.

That was enough to hold off the fast-finishing Murphy, who, playing off 21, burned up the back nine after going out in 18pts helped by back-to-back three-point returns at the third and fourth.

Turning for home, Murphy had three consecutive three-point holes before back-to-back two-point bogeys at the 13th and 15th. He finished with three more three-pointers at the 15th, 17th and 18th as he came home in 24pts to claim second overall behind Ó Gallachóir.

Carl Stewart (9) took Division 1 with 40pts from Connor McCaughey (9), while countback was needed to separate Thomas McDonough (16) and Ollie Reilly (15) after they finished tied on 39pts.

Mark Coan (22) won Division 3 with 41pts from Cathal O’Neill (19), while Niall Martin had four birdies as he covered the last 12 holes in four under, shooting 34pts for the best gross score.

Ashfield member Tommy Campbell (22) took the E-Power sponsored Wednesday Open Singles Stableford with a fine score of 40pts.

That gave him a one-point win over Aidan Thornton (5), who took Division 1 and also had the best gross score of 34pts. Michael Flynn (11) won Division 2 with 36 pts, and Peter McKenna (26) shot 37pts to win Division 3.

The IJM Matchplay Finals take place this Sunday, with each of the four finals being played off scratch. In the Senior decider, Neal MacKell will face Brian Óg Renaghan after MacKell beat Peter Rogers in the semi-final and Renaghan accounted for Robert White.
