LIVE: Met Éireann warns of localised flooding as Louth weather warning take effect

National forecaster has issued status yellow rain warnings for four counties

Met Eireann is urging caution due to the risk of localised flooding and poor visibility after it issued a number of weather warnings, including one for Louth.

The status yellow rain warnings impacting four counties are now in effect and will remain valid until 6pm this Saturday.

"Further falls of heavy rain today," states the warning which also applies to Dublin, Meath and Wicklow.

According to Met Éireann, possible impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann says rain on the east coast will gradually clear to the northeast later on Saturday afternoon.

"Bright spells and scattered heavy showers elsewhere with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees with light westerly breezes."

Any remaining showers will die out on Saturday night and it will become dry with clear spells. However, Met Éireann says cloud will increase from the west overnight with some light rain and drizzle moving in over Connacht, Munster and west Ulster.

"Sunday morning will be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain and drizzle spreading eastwards. Brighter weather and a few showers will follow from the west for the afternoon and evening and some sunny spells will develop."

Highest temperatures of between 14 and 19 degrees can be expected on Sunday with light to moderate southwest to west winds.
