Division One
Dreadnots 1-15 Clan na Gael 1-7
Dreadnots temporarily moved to the top of Division One on Thursday night with a win against Clan na Gael in Clogherhead on Thursday night.
Dreadnots opened the scoring with a point from Peter Kirwan followed by a Nathan Sutherland goal before Clans squared it up with two frees from Billy Smith.
A point from Darragh Shevlin and one each from Nathan and Peter left it 1-4 to 0-2 before Dreadnots lost Aaron Scullion to injury and Brian Gargan to a black card.
Jay Hughes opened his account with a free with five minutes to go in the first period before Clans struck back through Smith on the stroke of half-time with their first score from play leaving it 1-5 to 0-3 at the break.
Dreadnots forwards took control in the first five minutes of the second half with points from play for Jay Hughes (2) and Carl Monaghan and a 45 from Nathan Sutherland.
Clans hit back with two points of their own from Smith and Micheal McDonnell before a free from Jay and two more from Sutherland kept them at arm’s length.
Dreadnots gave Clans a lifeline by conceding a goal from a Smith penalty with 50 minutes on the clock, but points from Conor Shevlin and another 45 and free from Sutherland sealed a very good performance.
