Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has said that he's keeping a close eye on the form of Dundalk FC's goal machine Patrick Hoban.

The Galwegian became the club's all-time leading league scorer on Friday night, heading home the opener in the 2-1 defeat of Shamrock Rovers at Oriel Park.

Ireland coach Robbie Keane was at the game and the 27-year-old may now be considered for this summer's Euro qualifiers against Denmark and Gibraltar.

"I know Patrick set a new record for Dundalk on Friday and we’ll be keeping an eye on him in the coming weeks,” McCarthy told the FAI's website.

Hoban is the Premier Division's leading marksman this term with seven goals.
