Young Irelands made a winning return to the Kevin Mullen Shield when they came out on top against John Mitchels by six-points.

Goals from John Boland, Aidan Sheekey and Paddy McSorley helped Adrian O'Donoghue's men to a comfortable victory.

The Ballybailie side fought hard throughout the game and hit the net through Stephen Coyle (2) and Robbie Coyle, but they couldn’t match the Irelanders in terms of points. Dermot Mone was impressive for the winners on the forty.
