Dundalk U16 girls 2-1 Home Farm U16 girls
Dundalk Girlsfc U16's took on Home Farm in MGL 16A division in Oriel Park on Sunday, recording an excellent 2-1 win against the league's second place side.
To make the outcome even more impressive, the Lilywhites even fell behind in the match after Home Farm struck inside 10-minutes.
Great closing down by Aoife Byrne saw the ball fall to the feet of Seona Halligan and the Mill Road girl lobbed the 'keeper to get her side deservedly back on level terms.
Both sides attempted to wrestle control as the first-half progressed, though the hosts suffered a blow in their attempts to achieve this when goalscorer Halligan has to go off through injury. Andrea Stewart also had to make way with an upset stomach.
The second-half started well for Dundalk with their midfield dominance allowing them to create more chances and their strong showing eventually yielded a lead goal when Katie Moran drilled home a cracker from the edge of the box.
Substitute Ayo Adesanya and Sophia McCabe has further efforts in attempting to extend the winners' lead, however, the two-goals proved enough as the Lilywhites recorded an excellent victory on home ground.
