Team Dundalk members pictured their medals at the first WKFI 2017 League Competition

Congratulations to the members of Dundalk Karate - CIKA Dundalk who recently travelled to Navan to participate in the WKFI 2017 League competition.

Things definitely started off with a bang with junior member Abigail receiving a bronze medal in the U8 Kata category and Ryley Maher narrowly missing out on a medal in the U10 section.

Everybody within Dundalk Karate then quickly stepped back and watched on as Liam Hoey and Franciszek Chimelecki ended up in the U12 Kata category final opposite each other. Franciszek was awarded gold on the judge’s decision with Liam taking silver.

Head of Dundalk Karate, Josephine Marcus was seen congratulating both finalists afterwards and with numerous more league competitions scheduled over the coming year, this category is certainly going to be a very interesting one to watch.

The Kumite section was next up and Abigail was the first Dundalk member up, followed quickly by Franciszek and Liam. However, this time round only Franciszek came away with a bronze medal with both Abigail and Liam narrowly missing out.
