Dundalk FC confirmed on Monday morning that Head of Football Operations Brian Gartland has departed the club with immediate effect.
Gartland joined Stephen Kenny's Dundalk team from Portadown during the 2013 season. The 37 year-old made 251 appearances for the Lilywhites, winning sixteen major trophies, including five SSE Airticity League Premier Division titles.
The Dublin native retired from playing in 2021 and since hanging up his boots was appointed as the team's Head of Football Operations in January 2023.
Since owner Brian Ainscough took control of the club at the end of November, there have been four significant exits from Oriel Park including ex-Head Coach, Stephen O'Donnell, his assistant Patrick Cregg, and former Chief Operating Officer, Martin Connolly.
A statement released on the official club website reads: “Dundalk FC can today confirm that Head of Football Operations Brian Gartland has left the club with immediate effect.
“After arriving from Portadown in the summer of 2013, Gartland went on to make over 250 appearances for the club as a player, winning 16 major honours, including five SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division titles.
“Following his retirement from the game, he was appointed to the role of Head of Football Operations in January 2023. Brian will always be a legendary figure at Oriel Park and the decision to part ways wasn’t easy,” said Dundalk FC owner Brian Ainscough.
“I would like to thank him for his commitment and dedication to the club over the past 11 years and we wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
