O’CONNELLS 1-11 JOHN MITCHELS 0-10
O’Connells made it two wins from two starts when they had four points to spare over John Mitchels in this Kevin Mullen Shield Group 1 encounter at Darver on Wednesday night.
Andrew Sharkey opened the scoring with a point for O’Connells but the Mitchels landed the next three from Trevor Matthews and a brace for John Bingham.
Robert Quigley got the next two points to level the game and then Quigley and John Gallagher swapped scores to leave it 0-4 each after 20 minutes.
Quigley and Niall Conlon put the Bellingham side two in front before Gallagher reduced the lead to one. Conlon and Emmet Byrne got the last two points of the half to leave the score at the break 0-8 to 0-5.
Quigley got the first point of the second half just before Matthews responded. The only goal of the game came next when Conlon found Sharkey and his shot hit the net, in off the post.
Another point from Conlon left the score 1-10 to 0-7 with over ten minutes to go. Points from Matthews and Gallagher(2) cut the margin to three but Quigley got the last score of the game to seal the victory for O’Connells.

Nh Fionnbarra and Oliver Plunketts couldn’t be separated in this Kevin Mullen Shield Group 2 encounter at Darver on Wednesday night.
It was point for point for much of the first half, but the Drogheda side had the slight edge as they went in at the break with a 0-6 to 0-4 lead.
In a second half of a few chances, the teams managed to add just one score each the most decisive of which was when Jack Regan found the net to secure a share of the spoils.

Na Piarsaigh earned their first win of the season and left Dowdallshill still chasing theirs, with a comfortable victory under the lights on the Rock Road.
An early goal from James McCartney set the tone, as the hosts went on to build up a 1-6 to 0-1 lead by halftime. The 'Hill had to wait 24 minutes for their first score to arrive through top marksman Donal Magennis.
Magennis was the Hill's most accomplished performer, finishing the night with 0-5. Others to put their hands up were Paudie and Stephen Murray and Paddy McKenna.
On a good night for Na Piarsaigh, Robert Murphy (3), Jamie Fealy (3) and Jonathan Deeney (2) were among the top scorers.

O’Connells topped their group and moved into the knockout stages of the Mullen Shield with a seven-point victory over Glyde Rangers in Tallanstown on Saturday afternoon.
Playing with a strong breeze at their backs the Bellingham side went four points up with a brace each from Niall Conlon and Jackie Agnew.
Brian Duffy got the home side on the scoreboard with a point but three in a row from Conlon put his side six in front.
Glyde midfielder Brian Duffy had to leave the field on a stretcher due to an ankle injury before Bernard Osborne increased the O’Connells lead with a point and a minute later the same player put the ball in the net from a free kick.
Stuart Osborne got the last of the half to leave the score at the break 1-9 0-1. Glyde had the elements at their backs for the second period and Sean Devaney got the first point of the half.
Cailum Woods got the O’Connells first point against the breeze but the home side got the next two from Killian Scott and Conor McCullough.
Conlon put his team further in front with a point but the home side got the next three from substitute Peter Duffy and a brace from Scott. Conlon got his seventh point of the game to seal the victory before Duffy got the last score of the match.

ST NICHOLAS 2-7 WOLFE TONES 0-6
St Nicholas claimed the local bragging rights after defeating neighbours Wolfe Tones in the Kevin Mullen Shield clash on Sunday morning.
Goals from Hayden Quinn and Paudi Downey had the Nicks very much in control at the break as they turned around with a 2-3 to 0-3 lead.
The Tones battled to get back in the game in the second half but were unable to make an impression on the lead as the Nicks won out by seven in the end.
