France's Kylian Mbappé receives major role ahead of Ireland meeting
France manager Didier Deschamps has announced PSG star Kylian Mbappé as his new captain ahead of the Euro 2024 qualification campaign.
Les Blues begin their qualifiers against the Netherlands at the Stade de France this Friday before they travel to Dublin for next Monday's contest against the Boys in Green.
Mbappé (24) replaces Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Hugo Lloris as the country's skipper following his retirement from international football in January.
Atlético Madrid's Antoine Griezmann has been named as vice-captain for a French outfit that were narrowly defeated on penalties by Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final.
