'A Yellowbatter legend' - Tributes paid following death of 'one of a kind' man from Louth

Michael (Mick) McDonagh passed away on Saturday

Tributes have poured in following the sad passing of Michael (Mick) McDonagh, late of Yellowbatter, Drogheda.

Mick passed away on Saturday August 3, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Mick is predeceased by his Mam and Dad, sisters Joan, Veronica and Christine and his brother Anthony.

He will be sadly missed by his loving brothers and sisters Christy, Theresa, Patsy, Joseph, John, Mary, Bernie and Martin, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Mick, with one mourner writing, 

"Deepest condolences to all the McDonagh family at this sad time, rest in peace now Mick. You were certainly one of life’s great characters who I will never forget. You’ve done so much for us young ones growing up in Yellowbatter.

"I personally have so many great memories of you, you were a massive part of of my childhood growing up which I will never forget, it was a great honour to get to see you one last time and say a final goodbye today."

Another wrote,

"Rest in peace Mick....one of life's true characters and an absolute gent. Loved having a chat with you....always a laugh."

While another wrote,

"Sincere Condolences to the McDonagh Family on the sad passing of Mick - A Yellowbater Legend - A great story teller ' Seanchaí ' fond memories listening to his stories in awe in the boys club - great character May his gentle soul RIP."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Townley’s Funeral Home, Crosslanes on Tuesday from 5pm until 7pm.

Funeral cortége will proceed on foot from the family home in Yellowbatter at 11am on Wednesday morning arriving to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for Funeral Mass at 11.30am which can be viewed live on www.saintpetersdrogheda.ie

Burial afterwards in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
