Louth homeowners urged to cash in on enhanced SEAI energy upgrade supports

As a result of home energy upgrades, 2,308 County Louth homes are rated B2 or above

Louth homeowners are being encouraged to take advantage of enhanced, recently improved home energy upgrade grants, following strong local participation in Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) schemes throughout 2025.

According to SEAI data, 1,272 Louth homes benefited from SEAI grants in 2025 to make their homes warmer and more energy efficient. These energy upgrades included:

  • 884 homes installed solar panels, and 51 homes made the switch to a heat pump using SEAI grants.
  • As a result of home energy upgrades, 2,308 County Louth homes are rated B2 or above on the Building Energy Rating (BER) scale.
  • Louth homeowners can now avail of new grants for windows and doors, as well as higher grants for attic and wall insulation.

CEO of SEAI, William Walsh said: “There's never been a better time to retrofit your home. These new and enhanced grants will make a massive difference to homes across Louth, making them warmer, more comfortable and cheaper to heat. Last year 1,272 homes benefited from SEAI grants in Louth and this year we expect that demand to be even higher.

"I really encourage anyone thinking of upgrading their home to visit our website and talk to your neighbours and friends who have already got some work done - there is something for you no matter what your starting point or budget."

These enhanced grants make home energy upgrades more affordable and accessible with increased grants of up to €12,500 for heat pump systems, up to €2,000 for attic insulation, and up to €8,000 for wall insulation. The new grants offer up to €4,000 for windows and €800 per door, for a maximum of two external doors. For first time buyers of older homes, they can avail of a higher grant of up to €2,500 for attic insulation.

SEAI said: "Now is the perfect time for Louth homeowners to plan for home energy upgrades with Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O’Brien, announcing a major suite of new and enhanced SEAI grant supports.

"With bigger and better grants, Louth homeowners can choose an energy upgrade to suit their needs. Whether it’s individual step-by-step upgrades, or a complete one stop shop home upgrade in one go, SEAI grant options give homeowners the support and flexibility to make home energy efficiency more accessible."
