'The Ranch' pulled off a surprise triumph in the competition 12-months ago and, while McConville remained realistic when speaking to Conor McKenna after Tuesday night's win preliminary round win over Trinity, he feels their unlikely success gives inspiration to other smaller Colleges hoping to challenge the established competition
"We have a good strong squad so I think that’s the key, anytime we can get everybody out we can be competitive," McConville said.
"I suppose at Sigerson level like, realistically are we going to win a Sigerson, probably not, but I suppose St. Mary’s winning last year probably gives the likes of us some sort of semblance of hope and, as I say, we want to be competitive.
"This was a brilliant win. I suppose we’ve done really well in the Trench Cups the past two-years, but it’s a bigger test obviously when you come to play Sigerson teams.
