Former Dundalk FC defender Paddy Barrett has signed a contract with American Soccer League side FC Cincinnati.
The Waterford native announced his departure from the Lilywhites last week and has now agreed a deal for the 2018 season.
Barrett spent two-and-a-half years with Dundalk before signing on-loan with Waterford United where he spent the second-half of last season, helping them to the First Division title.
On their website, FC Cincinnati head coach Alan Koch described Barrett as a "tough, uncompromising centre-back who also has the technical skills to play out from the back.
"He has had some amazing experiences for a young player and has learned a lot from these appearances in major European competitions. We expect him to come in and compete for a starting position immediately.”
Barrett is the second player to have started the season with Stephen Kenny's men to have joined an American side following Ciarán Kilduff's move to Jacksonville Armada during the summer.
