Learner drivers warned that tests may not happen as testers prepare to strike next week
Learner drivers are being warned that if they have a test booked for Friday next week, it may not go ahead because of testers taking strike action across Ireland.
Driving testers who are members of the Fórsa trade union will be striking over concerns that uninsured vehicles are being used for driving tests.
Talks at the Workplace Relations Commission failed to reach a resolution, according to an article by RTÉ.

Fórsa then announced a full day of strike action, beginning at 8:15am on Friday, February 20th and lasting until 5:30pm that evening.
Indefinite action could take place, which would see testers refusing to conduct a test unless a valid certificate of insurance is shown by the learner driver hoping to take the test.
"The absence of access to a national insurance verification system means there is no reliable way to confirm that vehicles presented for tests are properly insured. Exposing driver testers to this level of potential risk makes no sense," Ruairi Creaney of Fórsa said.

The union voted last month on the decision to take strike action on this matter.
It also accused the Road Safety Authority of ensuring driving testers are covered by the State Claims Agency while working.
