Funeral details announced for man killed in bus crash in Dublin who 'always had a smile'

Funeral details have been announced for Frank Daly, the man who was tragically killed after he was hit by a bus on North Earl Street in Dublin last Thursday afternoon.

86-year-old Frank, who was well known in the area, has been described by those who knew him as kind, caring, a true gentleman, and someone who was always ready for a chat and a laugh.

Locals in the area have spoken of the tragedy and said Frank, from Bargy Road in East Wall, was know for walking the streets in Dublin, in particular, Henry Street, Talbot Street and the North Earl Street, and was a regular in a lot of the shops.

Frank was the beloved son of the late Elizabeth and the late Thomas. He will be so sadly missed by his brother Dermot, sisters Elizabeth and Patricia, Nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Hundreds of people who knew and fondly remembered Frank have left heartfelt condolences on RIP.ie, expressing their grief over the terrible tragedy,

One mourner wrote,

"Rest in peace uncle Francis. Our hearts are broken. What a kind, caring and absolute gentleman you were. Thank you for everything you done for us. I'm sure there was a queue of people waiting for you with open arms. Lots of love from us all xxx"

Another wrote,

"Francis was a lovely gentleman and a good neighbour. He leaves behind only smiles of a life well lived. I was so sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace in the arms of God."

While another wrote,

"Heartfelt condolences to all who knew Frank, he will be greatly missed by so many, to die in such tragic circumstances is cruel so please god he gets the best bed in heaven. No doubt his spirit will roam the streets of the Dublin he called home. God rest his gentle soul and comfort his family. May he rest in eternal peace."

Frank will repose on Thursday, February 12, at Staffords Funeral Home, North Strand Road from 3pm  to 5pm.

Removal on Friday, February 13, to St Joseph’s Church, East Wall arriving at 10:50am for 11am mass. Funeral afterwards to Mount Jerome Cemetery arriving at 1pm.
