Rest in Peace Anne and John Byrne
There is a great blanket of despair across the country after an elderly couple from Dublin both passed away together on the same day.
The married couple have been named locally as Anne and John Byrne (née Mulvaney) who died on 20th January 2026, peacefully surrounded by their loving family.
Anne is predeceased by her sisters Gertie, Vera, Theresa, Bernie and Kathleen.
Anne and John will be very sadly missed by their son Paddy, daughter-in-law Karen, grandchildren Lee, Chris and Megan, their partners Jennifer, Lauren and Luke, great-grandchildren Darragh, Frankie, Eabha and Robyn, John’s brothers Paddy and Jimmy, sisters Annie and Joan, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Funeral Arrangements:
A funeral is being held for the elderly couple on Saturday 24th January at 10.15am in The Church of the Most Precious Blood, Cabra West, followed by cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium Chapel.
Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers if desired to The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland (donate below).
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Anne and John, with one mourner writing,
"May God Bless you both on your journey to heaven. Together in life and together in death. How beautiful but utterly heart breaking for your family.
"I hope the fact they are together brings you some comfort in the hard days ahead".

Another message said, "Ah so sad lovely couple gone home together, may their memory be a blessing to all their loved one’s grieving their loss".
"Ah bless you all on the sad passing of both your parents. they look like a gorgeous couple. May they rest eternally in perfect peace. condolences to you all," another mourner said.
