Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have information on the fatal collisions to come forward
Four fatalities have been confirmed in three separate incidents on Irish roads in the last 24 hours.
The fatal collisions happened in Monaghan and Tipperary marking a tragic weekend on Irish roads in the lead up to Christmas.
On Saturday morning, a man in his 60s died following a road traffic collision involving a lorry in Monaghan.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision on Old Cross Square in Monaghan shortly after 10:15am.
The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
A Garda spokesperson said: "The scene of the collision was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened.
The coroner was notified the male's body has since been removed to Monaghan mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to come forward and contact them immediately.

Elsewhere in Tipperary, two separate fatal incidents just hours apart have sent the Premier County into shock with three confirmed deaths and many more injured.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a serious collision involving four vehicles on a local road at Killeen, Ballinunty shortly before 6pm on Saturday evening.
Two males in their early 20s and late teens, who were occupants of one of the cars, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two females, both in their 20s and travelling in a second car, were taken by ambulance to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Six other individuals who were involved in the collision were medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward as soon as possible.
Just a matter of hours later, another fatal road traffic collision occurred in Clonmel in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The collision involved two cars and occurred at approximately 1:10am on the Frank Drohan Road (N24).
A male, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will take place.
No other injuries have been reported from the collision.
The road is currently closed from the Cahir Road Roundabout to the Heywood Road Junction on the N24.
Gardaí are once again appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information to make contact with them.
As of this Sunday morning, the total number of deaths on Irish roads stands at 175, compared to 164 at the same point last year.
