A man who passed away following a workplace accident in the Tayto factory in Meath on Tuesday has been named locally as Michael (Mickey) Herron.
In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Tayto Snacks Ltd confirmed there had been a fatal incident at the site in Ashbourne.

The statement said,
"It is with profound shock and sadness that Tayto Snacks Ltd. confirms that a fatal incident involving an employee of an independent potato supplier occurred at our Ashbourne, Co Meath site this morning.
"The safety and wellbeing of all who attend on our site is our highest priority, and we are committed to supporting any investigations into today's tragic incident. The next of kin of the deceased have now been informed, and our thoughts are with their family, friends, and our colleagues as they come to terms with this terrible loss."
The company said that Gardaí and emergency services arrived quickly on the scene and they "will also be working closely with all parties including the Health & Safety Authority."

Michael's death has now been posted on RIP.ie which says,
Michael (Mickey) Herron, Commons, Duleek, Co Meath. Formerly of Fr Ryan Park, Duleek. Aged 60, following a tragic accident on November 25, 2025.
He is predeceased by his late father Michael, his mother Alice, sister Ann, brother Anthony & father in law Jimmy Cudden.
He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, his beloved wife Ann, son Dylan, daughter Sophie, brothers Jim and Garret, sisters Martina and Nicola, mother in law Nan Cudden, brothers in law, sisters in law, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie from those who knew and fondly remembered Michael, with one mourner writing,
