Investigations are underway after an infant boy died following a road traffic incident outside a house in Dublin this Tuesday afternoon.
Gardaí and emergency services say they attended the scene of the incident at Rathmintin, Jobstown, Dublin 24 at approximately 2pm.
"A male infant was transferred from the scene to Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased," confirmed a spokesperson.
No further details regarding the incident have been disclosed.
Gardai say a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the family of the infant at this time and that investigations are ongoing.
A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators has since been conducted and it's understood arrangements are being made to carry out a post mortem examination on the body of the infant.
