In a statement, Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said: "We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin. We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident."
The Steelers are in the capital to face the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon, in what is the NFL's first-ever regular season fixture to be staged here.
Kick-off was pencilled in for 2.30pm in what marks a historic moment as the NFL expands its international series to Ireland for the first time.
