RIP: Man pronounced dead after road crash involving truck in Cork

A man has died following a road traffic accident involving a truck in Ballycotton, Co Cork. 

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of this fatal road traffic incident on Thursday, September 18.

The collision, which did involve a heavy goods vehicle, occurred on the L3633 Church Road at approximately 3:30pm.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The Health and Safety Authority was notified and also attended the scene.

The L3633 Church Road was closed pending completion of a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 3pm and 3:45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Midleton Garda Station on 021 462 1550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

At 6:15pm yesterday evening, a female cyclist, aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead after a crash also involving a truck. This incident took place at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road.
