Two people have been taken to hospital after an incident involving a shooting in Co Offaly.
Gardai were alerted to a “public disturbance” at Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore at around 9.50pm on Friday.
Shortly afterwards, the armed support unit responded to a report of shots being fired at a home in Kilcruttin.
Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were taken to St James’s Hospital, Dublin for treatment of injuries which are serious but not currently believed to be life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported and no arrests had been made by 10am on Saturday.
The scene was preserved for a technical examination.
Investigating gardai are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to the incidents to contact them.
