European Indoor Athletics Championship: Where to watch amid major Irish interest

The European Indoor Athletics Championships have returned once again, this time taking place in Apeldoorn, just a mere 70 miles east of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. 

Running from Thursday, March 6 until Sunday, March 9, The European Athletics Indoor Championships is an indoor track and field competition. It is organised by the European Athletic Association and has been running for nearly four decades. 

The championships are held every two years, each time in a different country. It has been steadily growing in popularity since it's inception. 

Here is all you need to know on where to watch the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Ireland!

Public service broadcaster RTÉ will have extensive coverage of the intense games, with two exclusive streams available on the RTÉ Player for all sport fanatics. 

Alongside this, the championships will also be aired at the following times on these television channels:

Thursday, March 6 - RTÉ2 from 6pm until 9:35pm

Friday, March 7 - RTÉ2 from 9am until 1:15pm. RTÉ Player will then take over coverage from 5:45pm until 9pm, evening coverage can then be found on the RTÉ News channel from 6:58pm until 9pm that night. 

Saturday, March 8 - RTÉ2 from 8:55am until 12:40pm. Coverage will resume at 5:30pm and cease at 9pm.

Sunday, March 9 - RTÉ2 from 8:40am until 12:05pm. RTÉ One will then pick up the broadcast at 2:05pm until 5:15pm. Going back to RTÉ2, coverage will resume from 5:15pm until 6:25pm. 

There are many Irish sports stars in total to keep an eye on throughout these championships. Representing Ireland on the big stage are names such as Sharlene Mawdsley, Sarah Healy, Jodie McCann, Sarah Lavin, Kate O'Connor, Andrew Coscoran, and Cathal Doyle.
