Gardaí have confirmed that two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal assault of a man in his 30s on Anne Street and Duke Lane Upper in Dublin City Centre on Saturday, 15 February. 
Quam Babatunde was named locally as the man killed in the assault in the early hours of Saturday morning. Gardaí responded to the incident at around 3am on Saturday when they found Babatunde unresponsive and with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at St James' Hospital.
A second man, also aged in his 30s, was treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan said over the weekend that the fatal stabbing occurred after a row, which appeared to have started in a nightclub, spread out onto the street. The Minister also confirmed that Babatunde was Nigerian and was in the International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) system.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the assault following searches in Dublin on Monday morning, 17 February. A second man was also arrested in Belfast by the PSNI as he was about to board a ferry destined for Liverpool. The man is being detained at a police station in Northern Ireland. 

Gardaí said that the post mortem of the deceased has been completed, however the results are not being released for operational reasons.
They have appealed for any witnesses to the assault to come forward. Anyone who may have been in the vicinity of South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper between 2:45am and 3:30am on Saturday are being asked to come forward. 
 
Gardaí said they are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have information about any of these incidents or has any mobile phone footage recorded at the relevant locations, and any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area or in the vicinity of Dawson Street and St. Stephens Green at the time.
 
Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Investigations are ongoing.
