SNOWED IN: Gardai issue snow alert amid 'treacherous road conditions' following crash
Gardai have issued a safety statement as counties around the country are hit with heavy snow, which Met Eireann have called a 'multi-hazardous event.'
Following a single-vehicle collision in Co. Galway, westbound of the Cappatagle Toll plaza, Gardai took to social media to warn people before embarking on any journeys.
Gardai have said that there are 'treacherous road conditions' on the M6 motorway and surrounding secondary roads.
"Please stay at home and avoid journeys unless absolutely necessary," Gardai said.

An Garda Siochana have warned that "if you must travel, please slow down, drive with caution, be aware of other road users and allow extra time for your journey."
It is advised by gardai to take your phone with you on journeys and make sure it is fully charged so that in an emergency you can call 999 or 112.
