ALERT: Emergency services attend scene of school bus crash in Co. Limerick

The incident happened at approximately 8.30am this Tuesday

Emergency services are currently attending the scene of a crash involving a school bus in County Limerick.

The incident happened at approximately 830am this Tuesday on the R513 regional road between the villages of Caherconlish and Hospital - around 15km outside Limerick city.

It is believed that the bus came off the road and landed on its side in the ditch.

It is understands that a number of sixth-year students came to the aid of younger children and assisted them off the bus via an emergency door.

A number of teachers travelling behind the school bus also rushed to the scene and helped students to exit the stricken vehicle as safely as possible.

A number of ambulances are at the scene but no serious injuries have been reported at this time.

The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
