A man who was seriously assaulted in an incident in Co Cork has died in hospital.
Gardai are investigating the incident that occurred in Cobh on Friday evening.
The victim has been named as Ian Baitson, who was in his early 30s.
At approximately 8.55pm, he was seriously injured during an assault in a car park in Newtown Road.
Mr Baitson was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment where he later died.
An incident room has been established at Cobh Garda Station.
A family liaison officer has also been appointed to keep the family updated.
A post-mortem examination will take place on Wednesday.
Gardai are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
