A motorist whose car overturned in a ditch has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
According to Gardaí, Laois officers responded to a call from a passerby in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday January 21) informing them of a car which had overturned in a ditch.
At the scene, Garda McAteer broke the window to bring the driver - who very luckily escaped with just minor scratches - to safety.
In a post about the incident published on X (formerly Twitter), Gardaí stated: "It was extremely disappointing for Gardaí that the driver failed a breath-test and had to be arrested under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. They will appear in court next month. Why take the risk?"
