TWO men are being questioned by gardai following a significant drugs seizure in Limerick city.
Over €100,000 worth of suspected heroin, crack cocaine and alprazolam were located during a search operation in on Thursday, conducted as part of Operation Tara.
Two premises in the King's Island area - close to the city centre - were searched during the course of the intelligence-led operation, with gardaí from the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, supported by the Regional Armed Support Unit and other detective units.
According to gardai, suspected heroin (€82,000), crack cocaine (€20,000) and alprazolam (€3,000) were seized at the properties.
"Two men, aged in their 40s and 20s, were arrested as part of this investigation and they are detained at a garda station in Limerick city under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996," said a spokesperson this Friday morning.
All of the drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
