Lee Crosbie was the man in scoring form on the night as he finished with six points to his name, and his efforts in the first half helped his side to lead by 0-7 to 0-2 at half time.
Roche hit back in the second half and gave themselves a chance when Barry O’Hare scored the only goal of the game. The Roche full-forward would add four points to his tally but ultimately it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game.
With Jacob Finlay, Tom Matthews and Brian Callaghan also on target on the night for the Kevins, the hosts did held out to claim the win.

Young Irelands chalked up their second win of the Division 2 season when they defeated a Kilkerley side who are still waiting on their first victory after two games.
The game at Pairc Eire Og on Saturday evening began dramatically as Jack Watters crashed the ball to the Kilkerley net with just a minute on the clock.
Kilkerley hit back with scores from Tadhg McEneaney (2) and Cormac Mallon but the hosts scored six of the next seven points to take control with James Prendergast, Cian O Naraigh and Dermot Mone among those on target.
Micheal Begley and Michael Kirby helped the Emmets get back into the game but four late points saw the Young Irelands lead by 1-10 to 0-9 at the break.
The Dundalk men continued to hold the upper hand in the second half and stretched the advantage with the help of points from Ruairi Kelly and Joe Mee, along with a Liam McStravick two-pointer.

Stabannon Parnells 1-18 Clan na Gael 1-16
Stabannon Parnells made it four points from their opening two fixtures when they edged out Clan na Gael in this Division 2 clash in Dundalk on Saturday evening.
In an encounter that saw two impressive scoring displays, Robbie Curran top-scored for the Clans with ten points, but his efforts were eclipsed by Harry Butterly who had amassed a stunning 1-13 by the time the final whistle sounded.
The home side went into the game hoping to secure a first win after their draw with Roche on the opening day but found Stabannon in good form from the off and it took a goal from Sean O’Hanlon to keep them in touch at the break.
The opening period saw Buttlerly make his intentions clear as he helped his side lead by 0-10 to 1-5.
The second half proved to be a very tight affair as Curran’s points helped keep the Clans in the game. However, it was Stabannon who produced the decisive score as Butterly’s goal helped them emerge with victory.

Dundalk Gaels made it two wins from two in the league at home in The Ramparts against winless Oliver Plunketts. The Drogheda men were again unlucky to come away without something for the second week running.
Luke Murray was powering forward from the half-back line for the hosts and in an even affair Murray allowed the Gaels to nudge ahead by the minimum at halftime. Kristian Nolan was lively again for the visitors.
Again, in the second period, Kevin McKernan’s side edged it by a point. Thomas O’Connell’s two-pointer was crucial in the game. Adam Lambe popped up for Emmet Kelleher’s men but once more they could not close the gap.

Mattock Rangers 3-11 Glen Emmets 0-17
Local derby bragging rights looked to be going the way of Glen Emmets only for a late goal from Sean Flynn. The grandstand finish was enough for Mattock Rangers to deny the plucky hosts and allow the Collon men to get their first Division Two win.
Despite not picking up points, Kevin Barry’s side will be buoyed by a strong second-half showing. Ronan Grufferty and Kealan O’Neill enjoyed a dominant third quarter for the hosts.
Flynn’s first half goal followed up by centre back’s Shane Maguire unorthodox right footed effort had Fergus Flynn’s side six to the good at the interval.
The Emmets fightback looked well and truly on when goalkeeper Ian O’Reilly and substitute Tom Grimes made it a one-point game with two-pointers. However, Flynn’s last-gasp winner would prove invaluable for Rangers.

The visitors had no real response. Kyle McElroy did keep Keith Horgan’s side in touch with half his side's tally but Nathan Kirk came off the bench to land a brace to get the Knockbridge side up and running.
