Louth Ladies will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s slim defeat to Down when they welcome Carlow to Páirc Na nGael on Sunday afternoon. Throw in is at 2.00.

With both teams eager to pick up points it promises to be a competitive Lidl Ladies National Football League, Round 5 encounter.

It has been an up-and-down campaign for the Wee County so far. A two-point loss to Cavan in Round 1 was followed by an impressive 6-5 to 1-10 victory over Laois.

They then edged out Wexford in a low-scoring battle before suffering a narrow defeat to Down last time out. The results leaves them in fifth place in Division 3 on six points, having won two and lost two.

With a scoring tally of 55 points across four games, Louth have shown they can find the net when given the chance. But they’ll be aiming to tighten up at the back, having conceded 46 points so far.

Meanwhile, Carlow have found life difficult in Division 3 as they opened their campaign with a high-scoring loss to Laois (3-18 to 4-6) before bouncing back to beat Offaly.

However, a heavy defeat to Cavan in Round 3 saw them ship 6-17, something they’ll be keen to improve on. For Kevin Larkin’s Louth side this is an opportunity to return to winning ways and push up the table.

Playing at home should be an advantage, and if they can replicate the form shown against Laois and Wexford, they’ll be confident of picking up maximum points.

Donegal's Sinéad McHugh has been named as the referee.
