Following an opening round defeat Naomh Moninne have played themselves back into league contention thanks to this impressive victory over County Champions St Fechins in the Senior League in Toberona on Thursday night.
Early goals from Seaghan Conneely and Daragh Stone helped the Fechins to lead by 2-4 to 0-4 on the quarter hour. The sides went onto share the next six points.
Micháel Byrne grabbed a third goal for the visitors but the home side responded with four unanswered points on the run in to half time to trail by 3-7 to 0-14 at the break.
Seven different Moninne players accounted for points in that first half with Darren Geoghegan (4), Conor Murphy (3), Sam Phelan (2) and Mark Gahan (2) among the scorers.
A brace of early points from Geoghegan had Moninne on level terms on the resumption. A goal by Sam Phelan on 39 minutes put the home side in front for the first time.
Conor Murphy's first goal on 49 minutes had seven points between the teams 2-17 to 3-9 and Moninne extended their lead with a terrific long range effort from Conor Whyte and two more from the hard working Darren Geoghegan.
A second goal from Conor Murphy wrapped up this deserving victory for the Dundalk side who aim to make up for their disappointing championship campaign.
