Tallanstown Tidy Towns committee was formed nearly 30 years and the village, which has a population of about 800 residents, never fails to impress the Tidy Towns judges year after year. The village was awarded a gold medal last year and in 2012 it was awarded a gold medal along with the Bring Bank Award.
The active Tidy Towns committee and their energetic endeavours over many years also resulted in the village winning the National Tidy Towns competition in 2010.
The village had also successfully represented Ireland in Entente Floral, winning a gold medal in 2008 and the international section of the Communities in Bloom competition in 2011.
The village landscaping has a very colourful theme and the many floral displays and the houses provide superb colour with window boxes.
The village and surrounding areas are also strictly patrolled for litter by Tidy Town volunteers twice a day, in the mornings and evenings, in the run up to the competition.
The village is a credit to all the volunteers from the various communities who give so much of their free time in pursuit of making the village a pleasant place to live.
