The Community Services Programme provides financial assistance to not for profit community companies and co operatives to help meet the cost of employing staff

Local social enterprises and community organisations in Louth are being urged to apply for the latest Open Call under the Community Services Programme, which opened this week.
The Community Services Programme supports community based organisations to deliver essential local services while creating employment opportunities, particularly for those who may face barriers to entering the workforce.
The programme provides financial assistance to not for profit community companies and co operatives to help meet the cost of employing staff. At present, more than 420 community organisations are supported under the scheme.
Pobal will support organisations in preparing a preliminary application from now until the closing date of 8 May 2026. Applicants who meet the initial eligibility criteria will be shortlisted and invited to submit a full application by 28 August 2026.
Louth Fianna Fáil TD Erin McGreehan is encouraging local social enterprises and community organisations to apply to the programme. Speaking on the launch of the Open Call, Deputy McGreehan said: “This is an important opportunity for social enterprises that are deeply embedded in their communities.
"This funding helps them to expand their work, support those who are most marginalised and deliver vital local services while creating employment opportunities.
“It is targeted at organisations with strong links to their communities and a clear understanding of local needs. This Open Call will play a key role in strengthening and expanding those supports by bringing new organisations and services into the programme.”
Information events for shortlisted applicants will take place during the week beginning 27 July 2026. These sessions will ensure organisations have the guidance they need to complete the application process.
