De La Salle students, participants and helpers who took part in the Dragons' Den Book event

De La Salle College in Dundalk once again hosted Dragons’ Den Books to celebrate World Book Day on the 5th March.

A school spokesperson said they would like to thank the judges Dr. Fiona Fearon, Lecturer of Theatre & Drama Studies, DkIT, Ms. Leona Burgess, Louth County Council, Executive Librarian and Ms. Sheila Boylan, English Teacher, St. Louis Convent "who kindly gave up their time to judge the competition".

"We had 22 participants made up of both junior and senior students from the Louis Convent and our own Del La Salle.

"They put a lot of effort into preparing an entertaining pitch to impress the judges.

"Donnchadh McCooey and Mark McAlevey did a fantastic job recording the event.

"The link to the recording is available to teachers so the wider school community can watch.

"Thanks to Harry Farrington and Blake Kenny Fee who did a great job in introducing all of the students.

"Well done to all those who took part and congratulations to the winners."

The winners were as follows:

Junior Section:

1st Zayd Anter – Gone

2nd Rosaleen O’Rourke – Sunrise of the Reaping

3rd James O’Sullivan – Spooks Destiny

4th Susan Stokes – “A Good Girls Guide to Murder”

Highly commended: Eoghan McCusker – The Hunger Games

Highly commended: Fionnuala Thornton – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Highly commended: Evan Cheshire – Mane (Ultimate Football)

Senior Section

1st Daniel Beauquis – Man’s Search for Meaning

Highly commended: Ridwan Ali Hassan – The Summoner
