A sentimental item stolen from the grave of 11-year-old Daragh McNally in Dundalk has been recovered and returned to his family.

Daragh’s mother, Colleen McNally, confirmed on social media that the blue pot, which contained a tree and Peppa Pig figurines, was spotted on a doorstep and safely returned. She thanked the community, local media, and anyone who helped share the appeal.

The items, placed at Daragh’s grave after he passed away from cancer in 2019, held personal significance for the family. Colleen had previously expressed her distress at the theft and urged those responsible to return any items taken from graves in the area.

Speaking last week to the Claire Byrne Show on Newstalk Colleen, who lost Daragh to cancer in 2019, had expressed how she was "heartbroken" after discovering that a tree and Peppa Pig figurine were stolen from her son's grave.

When Daragh was buried, his family put some of his favourite things in with him and on the grave.
