May they rest in peace

The death has occurred of Michael Babe of Lisrenny, Tallanstown, Co Louth and formerly of Chatsworth Street, Derby, England

Peacefully on Sunday 1 February 2026, surrounded by family and under the wonderful care of the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with a special thanks to his exceptional home carers Aidan, Sam, Aki and Ayo and Dr. Maura Shanahan.

Predeceased by his sisters Norah, Maureen, Doreen, Bridget and his brother Desmond. He will be sadly missed by his beloved and devoted wife Agnes, son Colin, daughter-in-law Sarah, cherished grandchildren Henry and Robert, sister Kathleen (Derby), extended family, neighbours and good friends.

Reposing at Finlay's Funeral Home, Tierney Street, Ardee, on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Wednesday morning from Finlay's Funeral Home to Sts. Peter and Paul's Church, Tallanstown arriving for 11am funeral mass. Burial afterwards in St. Oliver Plunkett's Cemetery, Tallanstown. House private at all times, please. Family flowers only.

The death has occurred of Alphonsus (Al) Gregory of Painstown House, Dromin, Dunleer, Co Louth

In his 80th year, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by his family. Alphonsus, beloved son of the late Larry and Catherine. Predeceased by his sister Mary and brother-in-law Joe McNamee. Deeply regretted by his brother Jim, sister-in-law Rosaleen, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Connor’s Funeral Home, Dunleer, on Tuesday from 4pm until 6pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to Saint Finian’s Church, Dromin arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Mosstown Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, in lieu to The Irish Cancer Society. House private please.

The death has occurred of Elizabeth (Betty) Kearney (née Donnelly) of Beechwood Drive, Dunleer, Co Louth

On 31 January 2026, peacefully at her home in the tender loving care of her family. Predeceased by her husband Thomas and baby son Richard. Loving mam to Bernie, Criss, Vera, Thomas and Kevin. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, sons, sons-in-law Paddy, Matt and Jimmy, grandchildren Damien, Matthew, Stephen, Caroline, Killian, Laura and Mark, great grandchildren Abbi, Adam, Aibhilín, Dáire, Bella and Holly, brothers Richie and Sean, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home on Monday from 2 o’clock until 6 o’clock. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon in St. Brigid’s Church, Dunleer. Burial afterwards in Dromin Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Siobhán Kennedy of Wremen, Germany and late of, Dundalk, Co Louth

Peacefully, in Germany, surrounded by the love and care of her devoted husband and family. Beloved wife of Jens Kommnick and much-loved sister of Áine, Nuala and Éamonn. Predeceased by her cherished parents, Kathleen and Rory. Deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, sisters, brother, mother-in-law Uta, brothers-in-law Liam and Jörn, sisters-in-law Janet, Karen and Birgit, her nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends, neighbours, and all who were fortunate to know and love her.

Cremation will take place in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The death has occurred of Stephen Woods of Belfry Avenue, Dundalk, Louth

Peacefully, at Louth County Hospital on Saturday, 31st January 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband and best friend of Marion (née Meenan), loving dad of Oisín, Odhrán and Aoibhínn, dear son of Philip and Valerie (née Duffy) and much-loved brother of Michelle Kelly, Denise McGeeney and Donna Johnston. Will be forever remembered and missed by his wife, sons, daughter, parents, sisters, mother-in-law Kathleen Meenan, brothers and sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family relatives, and by all his wonderful friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Shevlin’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street on Monday from 2pm to 7pm. Removal on Tuesday morning at 10.40am driving to The Church of The Holy Family arriving for Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan. No flowers please, donations if desired to North Louth Hospice.
