Progress has been made on new toilet facilities at Oriel Park, the home of Dundalk Football Club, with a planning application lodged this week with Louth County Council.

Dundalk Town FC Ltd has applied for planning permission for the development, seeking the go ahead for two modular build toilet blocks and associated site development works.

The club confirmed in December that it was progressing plans to improve toilet facilities and address drainage issues at Oriel Park, with the objective of providing new facilities for both home and away supporters.

The club also plans to carry out a full CCTV survey and cleaning of the underground drainage system to tackle long-standing blockages and surface water issues around the ground.

It was announced last June that Dundalk FC was to receive €69,261 in government funding for a toilet upgrade at Oriel Park, as part of the Community Recognition Fund 2024. It was part of a €17 million national package to support 212 community projects that assist areas which have welcomed new arrivals in recent years.

A decision is due on Dundalk FC's planning application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 17 March, with submissions due by 24 February.

Ahead of the new season, which begins on 6 February, Dundalk FC is holding a Season Launch Night at the Lilywhite Lounge in Oriel Park on Thursday 29 January, starting at 7.30pm and is inviting along supporters.

The night will include an update on off-season infrastructure upgrades and wider improvements around Oriel Park; a club update from Executive Director Chris Clinton; and a discussion with Manager Ciaran Kilduff, with a number of first-team players also in attendance.
