Louth's first forest school in Stonehouse, Dunleer is offering a variety of courses for 2026.

Set up in 2025 by Ciarán Brennan, Stonehouse Forest School gives both adults and children a chance to immerse themselves in nature while learning about the environment and biodiversity.

The school offers a hands-on, educational approach in a natural woodland or forest setting. Activities include building shelters, using tools and exploring nature.

Mr Brennan said “Forest school immerses children, young people and adults in nature, allowing for extended periods of exploration, education and play outdoors."

"The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences."

He said the Stonehouse Nature Sanctuary is an ideal location for the school as it is haven for wildlife such as foxes, deer and bats.

The school is offering a one-day course for adults on Saturday January 31st followed by a parent and child course run over six weeks beginning on Sunday 25th January.
