May they rest in peace

The death has occurred of Bernard (Barney) McLoughlin of Sandusky, Ohio, USA and formerly St. Mary’s Road, Dundalk, Co Louth

Peacefully on Friday 5 December 2025 after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Benny and Katie, and brothers Jim and Peter. Beloved father of Eileen and Meghan. Barney will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters Eileen (Josh) and Meghan (Nick), adored grandchildren Eleanor, Luke, Olivia and Amelia, brothers John, Benny and Martin, sisters-in-law, dear and close friend Dan Boyer, nephews, nieces, extended family relatives and by all who knew and loved him.

A remembrance mass for Barney will take place on Sunday 21 December at 12.30pm in St. Joseph’s Redemptorist Church. All are welcome. Enquiries to Shevlin’s Funeral Home.

The death has occurred of Sr. Anne Scott FMSA of Mount Oliver Convent, Dundalk, Co Louth and late of Whitehall, Co Dublin

Peacefully, surrounded by the compassionate care of the staff at St. Francis Nursing Home, Mount Oliver. Sr. Anne will be deeply mourned by her sisters and brothers, her Community sisters, nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and all whose lives she touched through her faith and kindness.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday 16 at 11 o’clock in the Convent Chapel Mount Oliver Dundalk, followed by burial in the community cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Niall E. Kehoe Dixons Funeral Home.

The death has occurred of Dr Peter James Faul MD FRCPI of Kilkenny City, Co Kilkenny / Louth Village, Co Louth

On 12 of December 2025, peacefully at St. Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Noreen (née Moloney), brothers Monsignor Denis PP and Stephen, sisters Mary (Mast), Brigid (Mac Artain) and Dr. Eleanor.

Deeply regretted by his loving children Clare (Harrison), Honora, Peter Nicholas, John and Anne (Malpass) and his brother Terence. Adored grandfather of John, Louise, Mary Elizabeth, Catherine, John Philip, Peter Joseph, Nicholas and Hannah. Sadly missed by his sister-in-law Nora, sons-in-law Vincent Harrison and Charles Malpass, daughters-in-law Catherine Cleary and Clodagh Hickey-Dwyer, nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends and colleagues.

Reposing at Hehir's Funeral Home, Kilkenny on Monday 15 December from 4.30p.m. with Funeral Prayers at 6.30p.m. followed by removal to St. Patrick's Church. Funeral on Tuesday 16th of December after 2p.m. Requiem Mass to Foulkstown Cemetery. Family flowers only. House private.

The death has occurred of Elizabeth (Betty) Neary (née Smyth) of Prospect Cottage, Ardee Road, Dundalk, Co Louth

Passed away peacefully in the tender care of the wonderful staff in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a short illness on Saturday 13 December 2025, with her loving family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Paddy, parents James and Moriah, and brother Eric. Beloved mother of Maria, David and Seamus.

Betty will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her sons, daughter, daughter-in-law Maria, adored grandchildren Orla, Ryan, Robert, Emily and Ruth, and great-grandchildren Conor, Meridith, Charlie, Ceola, Jack and Bella-Rose, sister Moira Kirk [Canada], nephews, nieces, extended family relatives, and wonderful neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home, Ardee Road on Monday from 2pm to 8pm. Removal on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock to St. Fursey’s Church, Haggardstown, arriving for Funeral Mass at 1.30pm followed by burial in Dromiskin Cemetery. House private please on Tuesday Morning. Enquiries to Shevlin’s Funeral Home.
